This month, Paxton Hicks, a second-year master’s student in the FF-TIP Lab, gave a departmental talk titled “Thank you for Trauma Dumping” to the Psychology students and faculty. He started by giving two scenarios, one of a conversation between Trisha and Andrew and the other of a conversation between Amy and Derrick. By using these scenarios he presented his new research ideas to enhance Social Penetration Theory.
Paxton then presented his preliminary results, finding that attachment styles are associated with trauma disclosures as a means of getting closer with individuals sooner. However, he is going to further investigate this for new research. We are excited to see where Paxton’s research leads him!
