Celebrations in the FF-TIP Lab!

Last week, the FF-TIP Lab had a lot to celebrate, and we would love to share it with you!

First up, we have Taylor, who recently passed her comprehensive exams and has officially become a PhD candidate. Taylor has expanded her research interests and knowledge during her time here at Oakland and has successfully applied them to her exams. Through her hard work and dedication, she has achieved this feat, and we couldn’t be prouder of her. Congratulations, Taylor!

Next, Katie presented her master’s thesis proposal to the lab! After graduating with her Bachelor’s degree last Fall semester, Katie has put in non-stop work to connect her ideas with the literature to craft a strong research design. Building off of her previous research on depression stigma, Katie aims to explore the factors predicting helping behaviors throughout the course of suicidality. She will present her thesis to her committee soon, so this was valuable practice to refine her presentation. Great job, Katie!

And last but not least is our GriefBot research group (Katie, Gina, and Paxton) presented some amazing preliminary results from their study. After giving their background, methodology, and a summary of the participants, the team discussed how participants valued the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the grief process. With some meaningful discussion amongst the lab, we were able to identify some future directions for the study. We can’t wait to see where this research goes. Congrats, GreifBot group!
