Michigan Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters Virtual Conference

Recently, FF-TIP Lab members Ana Samaniego Ramos and Samantha Hart attended the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters (MASAL) virtual conference. They presented their systematic review, titled “Coping across borders: How acculturative stress and emotion regulation interact across immigrant populations,” which examined the bidirectional relationship between emotion regulation and acculturation processes.

Through this work, Ana and Sam highlighted the important role that culture plays in the development of emotion regulation and the ways in which acculturative stressors can impede this development. However, they noted that the bidirectional relationship also allows for emotion regulation to buffer some of the acculturative stress.

Ana and Sam were excited by the support and questions from MASAL attendees and fellow presenters. We are so proud of them and can’t wait to see where their work takes them! Congrats, Ana and Sam!
