Today was the day that finalized a semester’s worth of hard work in the PTG lab. Each of the research assistants presented their research today at the conference and it was truly a rewarding experience.
We had a great start to the day as we were amongst the first to present. My favorite part of the day was being able to share my research with instructors and students and seeing their reactions to it. I was offered valuable advice on further directions that I should take with my research. Conferences like this are a fantastic opportunity, especially for researchers, because its a rare opportunity to receive constant feedback from individuals that excel in the field that you are in.
Not only did we present our own research, but browsing around the conference was very insightful – it was fascinating to see the work that other students are doing not only in the field of psychology but in other disciplines as well. It was truly a learning experience. I was able to discuss research on religion with a different research team and we were able to discover the areas where our research findings differed and overlapped.
This picture was taken right after lunch. Lunch was right after our presentations, so it gave us the opportunity to reflect on our presentation experience and relax for a little bit! Discussions were made about the evolution of the Meeting of Minds conference from when it first began twenty years ago. I can say for the PTG research team and myself that we have all worked very hard on our projects and we were very excited to be a part of this conference. It was a great experience! Now, we will prepare our manuscripts to be published into the M.O.M. undergraduate journal! Exciting!
Until next time…- Melissa
